Linus Torvalds chooses Fedora over Ubuntu

And even then Ubuntu was only a “possible” 3rd after Fedora and openSuse. If the main man doesn’t want your distro, then you’ve got problems. I think i’ll send him an email, seeing as Dreamlinux does have everything out of the box. It seems that soonber or later you will find that only the n00bs to Linux want all the cutting edge hype, whereas the rest of us with jobs to do want a bit of stability and all our drivers and firmware out of the box.

As much as I would like to stand side by side with the main man, I would have to disagree with his choices. I found Suse too slow, and I don’t like the package management system, the same goes for Fedora. As for both of them having everything out of the box, wait until you need non-free drivers/firmware. What about the .deb packages? 1000′s more than .rpm.

Dreamlinux kicks all three of their arses in the out-of-the-box department for wireless. Archlinux kicks all three of their arses for stable upgrades and installation choice and control. Mint kicks all three of their arses in the “do it how the users want it” department.

But then again, we also know that Linus is a Kde advocate as well, IMHO the most unintuitive DE of them all. But hey, Linux choice blah blah!, each to their own blah blah!
